Hi, I’m Kelly. I believe every place has a story worth telling.
I’m a New Jersey native, a Saint Elizabeth University graduate, and the photographer behind The History Girl. I started this blog in 2012 to document the forgotten landmarks and local legends of the Garden State.
From the Garden State to the Tar Heel State A few years ago I traded the Jersey Shore for the foothills of North Carolina. While I’ll always be a Jersey girl at heart, I’ve fallen in love with the history of the South. Today, I split my time between digging into NJ archives and exploring the hidden gems of my new home state —which I also document over at www.guidetothetriad.com.
Documenting the Disappearing:
I believe that every crumbling brick and overgrown foundation has a story worth saving. My goal is to document these disappearing pieces of our landscape before they are lost to time entirely. Through photography and research, I work to ensure that even the most forgotten places are remembered.
The Curator:
My passion for history extends beyond these articles—I’ve curated a collection of my favorite research books, media, and unique finds for fellow explorers. Visit my Amazon Storefront to see my hand-picked recommendations.
